On literary theft

A quick excerpt from auteur Margaret Atwood's 1968 book of poetry, "The Animals in the Country." From the poem The Foundling: "He left himself on my doorstep,/ abandoned in the shabby/ basket of his own ribs."

One day, long after I've forgotten its provenance, this image will find its way into a short story. I'll be very pleased, too addled by its splendor to see that it's not mine.
