Ah well, the best laid plans.... I want to say hello to the new folks who are discovering this blog. It's a mix of things, this odd creation. Some dumb jokes, a few fun discoveries, reviews of literature, movies and other readings. Lots of questions, and a few opinions.

The opinions are my own, of course, not those of employers. Although, to be truthful, even some of these opinions are not my own. They are ideas thrown out for discussion. Some I discard, some I keep. That's one of the delightful things of debate, both with readers and with myself. Ideas are for the joy of them.

Eleanor, I'm not a newbie to this blog, but I only post from time to time. I first read your stuff, over at 365gay.com where I loved reading your columns. The first one I read was when TLW came out in its second season and you decried (or, lamented), "Where Are All The Butches?" It was hilarious and I was sold. And your referral to the Miss Poppy Dixon, link was a godsend. Of course I couldn't make up my mind on whether to get the "Lock 'n' Load Jesus" mouse pad or the "Jesus Nodder and Action Figure" for the newly born again. I'm leaning towards both. :-)

Being a "Southerner" to you (but then who isn't in the lower 48), I am a mix of contradictions. But such is life. Hailing from Tennessee (via Cleveland, Ohio on the other side of the lake), male, black and het, and coming of age in the 60s and 70s, I luvs just the same. You're just a good egg.

Your articles and columns are entertaining and almost always thought-provoking. I admit that after reading some of the political articles, I can't help but wish sometimes that we had your problems down here. It can get like that after living with Bush for six years.

Anyway, I wanted to let you know that you are responsible for at least 1/4 of the links in my favorites folder. So keep up the good work. I'm a "Canucker" at heart.

Don't you find it hard work to keep being opinionated? Aren't you ever tempted to have an unopinionated week or so where you just say "whatever" and have another glass of wine? I think I am just getting lazy in my midlife but I admire your opinionated state from my intellectually and politically laissez faire armchair.
